Grief & Loss – There is No Right Way to Feel

While grief is commonly associated with death, loss takes many forms. It can be the loss of a relationship, a role, health, certainty, identity or a future you once imagined. These quieter losses are often harder to name, yet they can feel just as heavy.

Grief does not always arrive as sadness. It may show up as numbness, fatigue, irritability, confusion or a sense of disconnection from yourself or others. At times, it can appear suddenly, without warning, even long after a loss has occurred.

There is no correct way to grieve and no timeline you should be following. Grief is not something to “get over” — it is something that gradually reshapes how you carry what matters to you.

Allowing yourself to acknowledge loss, without judgement or pressure, is often the first act of self-compassion.
